When Is the Next QME Examination in California?
The Division of Workers’ Compensation (DWC) has announced that the next Qualified Medical Evaluator (QME) Competency Examination will be offered from Saturday, October 4 through Friday, October 10, 2025. Key Dates for the October 2025 Exam Cycle
- Application deadline: Wednesday, August 20, 2025
- Admission letters emailed: Mid-September 2025
- Testing window: October 4 – October 10, 2025 (choose one day; computer-based at Pearson VUE centers statewide)
- Results posted: Four–six weeks after your test date
How to Register
- Complete Form 102. Download the QME Application (Form 102) from the DWC Medical Unit and select your desired specialty code(s).
- Pay the Fees. Enclose the $250 application fee and $125 examination fee (checks payable to “DIR – QME”).
- Submit Before the Deadline. Mail or file online via the DWC’s secure portal so it is received or post-marked by August 20, 2025.
- Watch for Your Admission Letter. About three weeks before the exam, the DWC emails your Pearson VUE login and reporting instructions.
Looking Ahead: Spring 2026 Exam
DWC traditionally offers a second sitting each spring (usually the first Saturday of April). If October 2025 does not fit your schedule, monitor the Medical Unit’s website in January for the official April 2026 notice and new application deadline.
